Metro Comet Transport Service Cooperative marked a PUV modernization milestone with the launch of modern jeepney units for its routes.
A modernization milestone for Metro Comet
Metro Comet Transport Service Cooperative inaugurated modern jeepney units as part of its participation in the government's PUV Modernization Program. The launch marked a shift from long-running UV Express operations toward safer, more efficient, and more comfortable public transport vehicles.
The first batch of modern PUVs was planned for the Rodriguez to Cubao route, giving commuters vehicles with more space, improved safety features, and better passenger comfort.
Technology inside the modern PUVs
The units included features aligned with PUVMP vehicle guidelines, including automated fare collection, GPS tracking, passenger and road-facing cameras, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning. Together, these tools support clearer fare calculation, better visibility, and a more reliable commuting experience.
Supporting public transport modernization
The launch reflected the broader push toward modernized public utility vehicles in the Philippines, with transport cooperatives, vehicle partners, and technology providers working together to improve daily mobility for commuters.
